Dental Crowns and Bridges in Baner, Pune

A crown covers and protects a tooth that is broken, heavily filled or root-canal treated. A bridge replaces a missing tooth using the teeth on either side or implants. Both are custom-made to match your bite and the shade of your teeth.

  • E-max, zirconia, PFM and metal crowns
  • Protects teeth after a root canal
  • Digital impressions for an accurate fit
  • Bridges on natural teeth or implants

How we saved it

Keeping the natural tooth

After an injury, this upper front tooth had lost much of its structure. Instead of removing it, we treated the root canal, placed a fibre post for support, rebuilt the core and fitted a custom E-max crown made from digital impressions and matched to the neighbouring teeth.

Types of crowns

Choosing the right crown

We recommend a material based on where the tooth is, how hard you bite and how natural it needs to look.

E-max crowns

All-ceramic, highly aesthetic and precise. Best suited for front teeth and other visible areas.

Zirconia crowns

High strength with a natural appearance, for front or back teeth.

Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM)

A metal base with tooth-coloured porcelain on top, combining strength with a natural look.

Metal crowns

Strong and durable, commonly used for back teeth where they are not seen.

Crown or bridge?

What each one does

You may need a crown if

  • A back tooth has had a root canal
  • A tooth is cracked or broken
  • More than about half of a tooth is filling
  • An old large filling keeps breaking
  • A tooth is badly worn or discoloured

About bridges

  • A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth in a row
  • It is fixed on the teeth either side, which are shaped for crowns, or on implants
  • No surgery when it sits on natural teeth, and usually done in a couple of weeks
  • You clean under it with a floss threader
  • If the teeth either side are healthy, an implant may be the better choice

How it works

Your crown or bridge, step by step

Step 1

Check-up

We examine the tooth, take X-rays and check your bite and gums.

Step 2

Preparing the tooth

The tooth is shaped so the crown can fit over it; a post and core are added first if little tooth is left.

Step 3

Digital impressions

We scan the teeth and choose the shade, and a temporary crown protects the tooth meanwhile.

Step 4

Fitting

The custom crown or bridge is checked for fit, bite and colour, then cemented in place.

Questions patients ask

Crowns and bridges FAQs

When a tooth is cracked, broken, heavily filled, badly worn, or a back tooth has had a root canal. A crown covers the whole top of the tooth and holds it together so it doesn’t split when you bite.
For a back tooth, usually yes: molars and premolars take most of the chewing force. A front tooth with only a small opening is often fine with a filling. Crown after root canal
Aim for a few weeks, not months. The temporary filling is meant to last a short time, and until the crown goes on the tooth is at its weakest.
It depends on the tooth. E-max is highly aesthetic and suits visible teeth; zirconia is very strong with a natural look; PFM combines a metal base with porcelain; metal crowns are durable for back teeth. We explain which suits your tooth.
If very little tooth is left, a post placed in a treated root canal helps hold a core that the crown fits over. Posts don’t strengthen the tooth by themselves, and many teeth don’t need one.
Often, yes. Even a severely fractured tooth can sometimes be kept with a root canal, a post and core, and a crown, as in our fractured front tooth case. Read the case
A bridge uses the teeth either side of the gap, which are shaped for crowns, and needs no surgery. An implant replaces the root and leaves the neighbouring teeth untouched. Bridge vs implant
Brush as usual and use a floss threader or interdental brush to clean under the false tooth every day. We will show you how.
With good cleaning, regular check-ups and care with very hard foods, crowns and bridges can last many years.
