The best time to plan dental treatment for your India trip is before you book your flights. Send your photos and X-rays, have an online consultation, and you will know exactly how many days to keep aside. This NRI dental checklist walks you through each step.

Many families who live abroad use their visit home for dental care. Yet trips are short, and there is always a wedding, a festival or family to see. So a little planning makes a big difference.

Before you book your flights

  • Send photos of your teeth on WhatsApp, along with any recent X-rays or reports from your dentist abroad.
  • Book an online consultation. The doctor explains your options and tells you how many days the treatment needs.
  • Plan your dates around the treatment, and leave a day or two spare before your flight back.
  • Book early for busy seasons. Diwali, Christmas and the summer holidays are when most families travel.

What to bring with you

  • Old X-rays, scans or treatment reports, even if they are a few years old
  • A list of the medicines you take, with doses
  • Details of any health conditions, such as diabetes, blood pressure or heart problems
  • Your current retainer, night guard or aligners, if you have them

How many days each treatment needs

Here are typical times at House of Tooth for patients who are suitable for treatment:

Treatment Typical plan
Root canal and crown About 5 days
Smile designing and veneers About 5 days
Full mouth rehabilitation with implants About 8 days, if the bone is healthy
Single dental implant Two visits: implant first, crown about 3 months later
Invisalign You can start during your visit
Check-ups and cleaning for the family Book during the same trip

Your own plan is confirmed after your consultation and examination. If your case needs extra steps, we tell you before you book your travel. For implants in detail, read dental implants in India for NRIs.

Root canal and crown in one trip

A tooth that needs a root canal usually also needs a crown afterwards, to protect it. Both can be completed in about 5 days in Pune, so you do not fly back with a temporary filling. Read do you need a crown after a root canal?

Starting Invisalign during your visit

You can begin Invisalign treatment during your visit to India. We take iTero 3D scans of your teeth, plan your treatment, and discuss with you how your check-ups will fit around your travel and where you live. See how long Invisalign takes.

While you are in Pune

  • We are in Baner, behind Balewadi High Street, on Lane No. 4 near Irani Cafe.

Before you fly back
