For a single dental implant, plan on two visits: one to place the implant, and one about three months later for the crown. For full mouth rehabilitation with implants, the complete procedure at House of Tooth takes about 8 days, if your jawbone is healthy.

Many NRIs plan dental implants in India around their yearly visit home. The biggest worry is usually time: how many days to take off work, and whether one trip is enough. This guide answers both.

Why a single implant needs two visits

An implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. After it is placed, the bone slowly grows around it and holds it firmly. This healing takes time, and it happens at home, not in the clinic.

So the treatment usually works like this:

  1. First trip: consultation, scans and implant placement.
  2. Healing at home: about three months, while the implant bonds with the bone.
  3. Second trip: your final crown is fitted on the implant.

Because many NRIs visit India once or twice a year anyway, this often fits naturally into two existing trips. Read more about the recovery after an implant.

Full mouth implants in about 8 days

Full mouth rehabilitation replaces all the teeth in one or both jaws with fixed teeth on a few implants. At House of Tooth, the complete procedure takes about 8 days when the bone is healthy.

For example, Laxman travelled to us from Jalgaon and had his full mouth rehabilitation with implants completed in 8 days. You can see his before-and-after on our NRI dental treatment page.

However, not everyone is suitable for this timeline. If the bone has thinned, a bone graft may be needed first, and treatment then takes longer. That is why a scan before you book your travel matters. See how many implants replace all your teeth.

Planning your trips at a glance

Treatment How it is planned Time in Pune
Single dental implant Two visits, about 3 months apart First visit for the implant, second for the crown
Full mouth rehabilitation with implants One trip, if the bone is healthy About 8 days
Treatment needing a bone graft Planned case by case Confirmed after your scan

Your exact plan is confirmed after your consultation and examination.

How to plan before you fly

The more we know before you arrive, the better we can use your days in Pune.

  • Send your X-rays. Share any recent X-rays or scans from your dentist abroad on WhatsApp.
  • Book an online consultation. We discuss your options and the likely number of days.
  • Share your medical history. Tell us about diabetes, blood pressure, blood thinners or other conditions. Well-controlled conditions do not automatically rule out implants.
  • Keep a buffer. Leave a day or two spare before your flight back.
  • Ask about flying. Before you book your return, ask us when it will be comfortable for you to fly after your procedure.

What happens when you arrive

On your first day, we examine your mouth and take a 3D CBCT scan. This shows the bone in detail, so each implant can be planned precisely. We also take iTero 3D scans instead of messy moulds.

Then, if everything matches your plan, treatment goes ahead on the days we agreed. Before you leave, we plan your second visit with you, and you can take copies of your X-rays and records home.

Common questions

Can I get a single implant and crown in one trip? Usually not, because the implant needs about three months to bond with the bone before the crown is fitted.

What if I have bone loss? Implants may still be possible, sometimes after a bone graft. A CBCT scan shows us what is possible.

Implants or a bridge? Both replace missing teeth. Our guide to dental bridge vs implant compares them.

Can I pay from abroad? Yes. We accept international debit and credit cards and bank transfers.

What if I have a question after I fly back? WhatsApp us or book an online consultation.
